Felicity - The IIIT Annual Festival

I spent most of this weekend was at the IIIT’s annual cultural and technical festival. With many of my classmates coming in from outside this city of Hyderabad, this was one of the most enjoyed weekend in the recent months. Played a lot of tennis, defeated hari and venky in table tennis and cooked chicken for sunday lunch!

I still remember the days when I was at college during Felicity…

We organized the first Felicity in a mere 10 day time. When collecting funds - me and vakiba were almost thrown out of one of the corporates here when we approached them for funds, the reason as they said was - “Our company won’t sponsor FLOP shows, and its not possible to put up a show with a mere 10 day planning”. That was insulting, but we stood up to the challenge and we made it a success. That was an exciting experience, both for the organizers as well as the visitors.Equally exciting was the second Felicity (2002) where a few of us put up a pizza and icecream stall. The ‘complimentary’ icecreams and pizzas was very significant part of the sales. If only we could go back to those college days…

Kalyan and Vipul keep running to fix even the minor issues in organizing the festival. Prashanth, Leela and many others busy practicing for the dance competitions… The huge crowds that turned up… and every small thing makes the first couple of years of Felicity more interesting and more organized ones.

After all those wonderful past experiences, this one - the felicity 2005 was a dissapointing one. What ever be the reason, there appeared to be less amount of interest and planning involved.
