Spicebird 0.7 - Coming on 20th November

The Spicebird team is happy to announce that the next Beta of Spicebird will be released on the 20th of November, 2008.  Over the next five days, I will keep blogging about the various things that the Spicebird team has worked on to make Spicebird 0.7 more stable and better set for the later releases.

Man, impatient people are annoying. You’d almost thing they paid for spicebird, when it’s freely available and we should be grateful it even exists.

I also looked up postbox and it’s just another mail client like TB and Eudora. I don’t see any announced features such as calendar, task management, etc.

I never understood people who complain about things they get for free. It seems like software users have been spoiled by developers. They’ve gotten used to getting good software for free that they now thing they’re entitled to it.

    Steve,

Thanks for your patience.I can assure that we are almost done.A little bit of polishing is all that remains for the 0.7 beta release.

I don’t know whats worse. The fact that there is a definition for that word or the fact that you know that such word exists.

Its all good. We really do have to remind ourselves that if the end product sucked we all wouldn’t be so excited for it. Going back a couple of posts, if you know the sites of solid competitors then use those competitors. Would you put out a piece of art, hell even a great steak early. It’s the result of pride of ownership that it’s being delayed. Also if it sucked when we got it, wouldn’t we be pissed as end users?

    Let the artists be artists.

    One final point…
maybe they are getting wasted. I dont know about the rest of you but if I just wrapped on this awesome of a project I would be hammered already.

    We all have the remember

actually, our impatience should be seen as high praise for synovel and the guys working on spicebird. It might be annoying sometimes but on the other hand - what if noone cared? So, I hope you are at least partly grateful for the fact that there are people out there that care enough to anticipate the release of this product so eagerly.

The need for SB clearly exists and it isn’t covered by TB, yet.

On this level, Synovel does a great job. However, there have been several complaints about the lack of information on the progress and roadmap of SB which is very unusual for an open source project. On that level, there is clearly room for improvement.
