The Spicebird team fixed a good number of bugs since the 0.7 release. Sunil is taking care of this release and he will be announcing a string/code freeze soon. If everything goes well, Spicebird 0.7.1 is expected to be released in less than 10 days!
The release will include the much awaited ICQ and AOL messenger support, preferences for Chat, icons in the menus and many many more fixes!

I’d rather see OpenChange support…that’s the thing I’m eagerly waiting for
Hey!!
Will this great piece of software die because of lack of support???? I have noticed that no one responds to the support forum on sourceforge. I hope you people do not leave this great software in the middle????
Hi Kushagra,
The project is very much active. While it may not be possible to respond to all the requests, we do respond to most of them with in a couple of days. Many times the response time is even lower.
Please be patient, its an open-source software that is still in it’s beta. Someone will respond to your queries soon.
I just tried your software after a computer crash during travel and inability to load Outlook. I really love it! The only thing I couldn’t do is sync my mobile phone, which is a must for me. Is it planned?
Also what is your business model? Such a great piece of work has to live on…
Congratulations to developers!!!
Fernando
Great that you found it useful.
Spicebird Enterprise is part of the Synovel CollabSuite - a collaboration suite based on open-source software for small and medium businesses.
We are also planning to accept donations that could help us fund the hosting expenditure (currently a VPS with InMotion Hosting).
Uhm, what’s the current expection for the 0.7.1 release? The last one (’this month’, i.e. February) seems a bit deprecated
“This month” expired 12 days ago today. Any news?
dear snovel,
we said it a hundred times: please do communicate with the public, visibly, here!
the people reading your blogs like your product and are potentially willing to support it. But not if you keep everything a secret or just fall quiet after announcing a new release. Think about it: how are you going to position yourself against thunderbird 3 and postbox? the key is: community (just take a look at ubuntu vs. other distros). So please, don’t expect everyone to read through forums or mailinglists. Keep us posted about your progress, even about setbacks and delays. It’s the only way for you to earn the trust of your (potential) customers.
Spicebird seams doomed to die because of the bad communication by the developers behind it. Maybe it’d be a good idea to get the important parts of Spicebird into Thunderbird 3.5 after 3.0 is released. And finally add OpenChange support to it.
I understand that we are not being good at communication, but please understand that it does not in any way indicate that there is no activity or that the work isn’t going on!
We will try to communicate more.
